BIG NEWS!!! REBarCampTO is becoming RETechTalks.
RETechTalks2015 will be a smaller more intimate, more intense and focused REBarCampTO. No selling or training seminars, just an exploration of what technology is out there to help you with your business, productivity and marketing…the focus will be tech, tech and more tech…but accessible for all. The format will still be “a’ la REBarCampTO”.
If this is what you are looking for, please sign up and buy your $50 ticket which will include continental breakfast, lunch, networking with your peers, as well as some harder-to-answer tech solutions. Come ready to discuss your Tech needs, wants and share your wildest dreams.
Attendance will be restricted to 300 maximum.
Barcode Publicity Comes Through Again!!
What would a REBarCampTO be like without the great work of Barcode Publicity? Thanks to them one of the hardest parts of REBarCampTO, scheduling, would be back to the old whiteboard. The whiteboard was fun when there were only 200 of us but with 550 attendees, going online is the only way to go.
Warren Dow and Alex Camelio were and have been great supporters since the early days and we see them often at other REBarCamps. They were involved all day in great sessions and always there to guide us.
Again many thanks to the peeps at Barcode Publicity!! Another great year!

REBarCampTO. Please look at the Video!!
Here is a wonderful video that was done a couple of years ago and will give you a sense of what an REBarCamp is like…Many thanks to the chaps at SilverHouse who took this for us. Good work!!
Please Read: REBarCampTO 2014!!
Here are some important things you should know about REBarCampTO 2014:
First, there is Parking onsite…and it is free thanks to Better Homes and Gardens Canada. The earlier you arrive the better the parking. Please come in groups as parking is limited…
Should you decide to come by Subway, you can go to the Broadview Station on the Bloor line and there is a Shuttle Bus to take you to the Evergreen Brick Works. The schedule is at Evergreen Brick Works web site…
When you arrive at the Brick Works you will head to the Young Welcome Centre for registration (make sure you bring your ticket/tickets with you and are linked below), just follow the sandwich boards for REBarCampTO.
There will be a continental breakfast supplied by our caterer Belong Catering and coffee, water, etc. available all day. There will also be a bag lunch provided during the noon-time break and we encourage you to take a look at the facilities and the Parks that surround the Brick Works.
Hopefully, it will be a sunny warm day but even if not, there are lots of canopied spaces that can be enjoyed. There are seven great spaces for discussions. Always be thankful and courteous to our Volunteers…they are your colleagues and attendees as well. BRING LOTS OF BUSINESS CARDS!!
Registration and Breakfast/Networking begin at 8:30 am in the Young Welcome Centre (feel free to be earlier). There at 9:00 am, we will welcome you all and give you the last minute news. The sessions will start at 9:30 and be 45 minutes long with a 15 minute break for refreshing and changing rooms. We will break at Lunch with Bag lunches available in the Young Welcome Centre. There is also a sit down the Belong Restaurant onsite, however that is not included in your $30.00 ticket…
There is a schedule up on the website that will be added to and changed during the day. You can access it from any mobile device on your browsers. We will try to keep it up-to-date but technology is known for it’s glitches so keep refreshing the screens . Brings tons of business cards and set your sites on meeting and talking to at least 10-15 new people.
For those facilitating or wanting to: please email Richard Silver @ firstname.lastname@example.org. For all presenters: please remember that this is not a selling event and if you are feeling that someone is selling you a product rather than sharing knowledge and facilitating discussion, you have every right to walk out…
You are there to SHARE, PARTICIPATE and LEARN so please avoid being a session “Kamakaze” and taking over the discussions. More experienced attendees should remember that they were once Newbies. Leaders, please make sure that common phrases that you may use should be able to be understood by all…
There is Wi-Fi available throughout and the wifi is Evergreen Guest and the password will be posted. The Twitter Hastag for the event is #rebcto. Let’s see if we can trend on TWITTER…
Carbon Computing will be on site again with a “Genius Bar” including some of their staff, so should you have hands-on questions about your Apple products please see them.
There will be a great Charity draw. David Pylp has agreed to be our Carnie-extraordinaire for the draw. The funds will go to the Ontario REALTORS Care Foundation.
At the end of the day we will be having a Beer Camp from 5-7 PM…courtesy of Spring Realty…save some energy for it
For obvious reasons there will be a lot of focus this year on mobile, as well as multiple browsers. Please feel free to bring your tech tools.
Remember that an REBarCampTO also depends on the energy that you, the attendee adds to it!
Our Sponsors make this event possible. At every chance you have, if you see a Sponsor, thank them profusely please…Please visit the web site so you know who they are!

PLEASE READ: We Are Capping REBarCampTO in 50 Tickets….and that means…
Last year we had some issues around shortness of parking, food and seating so this year we are capping the number of attendees at 550 (100 less than last year). That means that there are only 50 tickets left as of right now and 100 less tickets will be sold for the day.
It also means you should carpool, plan for early arrival and walk to the front of the room for all sessions (last year there were attendees at the back of the room standing and front seats were open)…It will be a great day and we have dynamite visitors, but this event will always be as good as you make it.
Remember that REBarCampTO is a day where sessions are facilitated rather than presented. Discussion is welcomed as long as you don’t overtake the session. All sorts of topics will be discussed but there will be no selling of products.
This event is all about making you better with new directions that you may want to use in your business. Keep an open mind and come ready to learn. Challenge yourself and you will have a successful day!!
We are just finishing off the last minute details and will be getting to you with a schedule of more events that will be tied to the day. Please be respectful and patient. Everyone involved is a volunteer and we owe our Sponsors a great big thank you!!!
Many thanks! Your 2014 organizers: Natasha, Evan, Shirley, Richard and Bradley!! Woo Hoo!!

Social Networking…Live And In Person
As we strive to make sure you squeeze the maximum value out of your twenty-five bucks, we have two exciting final announcements to make.
First, together with the breakfast, hot and cold beverages, lunch and six incredible knowledge-sharing sessions, there will now be “Beer for Barcampers”, courtesy of your organizers and the generosity of Steam Whistle Brewery.
Steam Whistle wants all of the attendees to relax with a pint of beer in hand at the end of the day, from 4:30 pm-6:00 pm. You will get a drink ticket when you register.
Careful though – you just may keep on learning as we go back to the original form of social networking–live and in person.
However, let’s just make sure to plan accordingly. Carpools, taxis, shuttles to TTC and limos are all great ways to get home. Drinking and driving is not.
Second, Richard Silver’s www.Torontoism.com is donating a 32gig, 3G, iPad2 to the cause. Raffle tickets will be sold for $5.00 with all proceeds going towards TREB’s Children’s Breakfast Program.
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone for a fully-packed day on Tuesday…it feels like we are planning a royal wedding, or something…
Photos of REBarCampTO 2010….Case you were not there!

The Great Thing About REBarCamp!
As a fairly frequent REBarCamper…the best thing for me is putting a face to the handles that you see online. The best Social Media is still the old Face-to-Face!
Topics will be discussed, ideas will be shared but being able to look at each other, laugh and share successes and failures is the real treat.
Come with an open mind, be ready learn and to get excited by new ideas all over again. Get ready to push the envelope…no excuses just lots of stimulating ideas. Read more
