Attending REBarCampTO

academymapIf you’ve never been to an REBarCamp before, don’t worry! Most people attending the Toronto event this Friday are going to be in same boat. Most will be new to the un-conference experience.

Each REBarCamp tends to have their own personality because the day is determined by the attendees–you suggest topics that you would like to learn more about. Here are a few quick tips on what you may want to know before attending the REBarCamp coming up this Friday at the Academy of Spherical Arts . Read more

Please feel free to Google, email, add, connect or follow them prior to Friday so that you can get a heads up about who they are and what type of ideas they may be able to share with you.

Some of the people we know who really wanted to join, but weren’t able to fly up for the event have offered to come to us live through a video feed. This is a new Bar Camp concept that we are really excited to bring to you. Read more

Schedule for May 7th, 2010

iStock_000006304060XSmallHere is the proposed Schedule for May 7th, 2010. Please remember that the day is informal, no questions or answers are wrong and participation is important.

8:00 Registration and Breakfast will begin. There will be stations where you will given a lanyard and tag. Then grab a coffee, something to eat and start schmoozing! There will be live streaming for the event at http://bestagenttv.com/15/rebarcampto-live/

8:45 We will have a quick introduction and the “RULES of the day” will be explained and our Sponsors thanked. There will be “White Boards” in the main area where some topics where already be designated. There will be lots of spaces to be filled if you have a burning issue that you want everyone’s take on. Evan Sage is in charge of topic scheduling so feel free to email him in advance at evan@evansage.ca. There will be 5 pods that are designated throughout the Building but because the space is fairly open, we hope that you will try to respect the other groups. There will be one pod in the lower room which will have ongoing Skype sessions with some great off-site facilitators. Read more

Mid-March Update

With just under two months to go we are starting to see Real Estate Bar Camp Toronto take form.

We have had several meetings at the venue now and we are very happy with the Academy of Spherical Arts space and our vision for how the day will operate. We will be crossing our fingers for good weather, but not so good that you won’t want to be inside facilitating and participating in sessions.

Thanks again to Toronto Real Estate Board and TREB Commercial Division as well as to Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic for stepping up to our Platinum sponsorship levels. They have secured the existence of the event and ensured all our bellies will be sufficiently fed for the great learning and sharing that will be going on. We will not only be able to provide a continental breakfast, but we can now definitely say that lunch will be provided for all of our attendees as well. Read more

We will also be announcing a wait-list set up so we can keep those interested but not signed up, alerted.

Photos Coutesy of the Academy of Spherical Arts

A BRIEF HISTORY of the Academy of Spherical Arts and the building that houses it reads like an outline for a short story.

In 1890 the 38 Hanna Avenue (now #1 Snooker Street) address was assigned to the original four-story building. Over the years, space was added and in 1905 the Brunswick Balke Collender Company bought the building and began manufacturing billiard tables, cues, balls and all manner of accessories (can you see it coming?).  Read more
