Attending REBarCampTO
If you’ve never been to an REBarCamp before, don’t worry! Most people attending the Toronto event this Friday are going to be in same boat. Most will be new to the un-conference experience.
Each REBarCamp tends to have their own personality because the day is determined by the attendees–you suggest topics that you would like to learn more about. Here are a few quick tips on what you may want to know before attending the REBarCamp coming up this Friday at the Academy of Spherical Arts . Read more

Here is the proposed Schedule for May 7th, 2010. Please remember that the day is informal, no questions or answers are wrong and participation is important.
8:00 Registration and Breakfast will begin. There will be stations where you will given a lanyard and tag. Then grab a coffee, something to eat and start schmoozing! There will be live streaming for the event at http://bestagenttv.com/15/rebarcampto-live/
8:45 We will have a quick introduction and the “RULES of the day” will be explained and our Sponsors thanked. There will be “White Boards” in the main area where some topics where already be designated. There will be lots of spaces to be filled if you have a burning issue that you want everyone’s take on. Evan Sage is in charge of topic scheduling so feel free to email him in advance at evan@evansage.ca. There will be 5 pods that are designated throughout the Building but because the space is fairly open, we hope that you will try to respect the other groups. There will be one pod in the lower room which will have ongoing Skype sessions with some great off-site facilitators. Read more

In just over two days, REBarCampTO is fully subscribed at 400 attendees. Knowing REALTORS as we do, we are looking at adding 50 more spots. If, as time goes by, you realize that you will not be able to attend please email us so that we can let others sign up. We will also be announcing a wait-list set up so we can keep those interested but not signed up, alerted.
However, our budgeting was done on 350 people so we need your help in getting Sponsorships and Donations…Sponsorships start at $1,000 but donations can happen at any amount and can be made by Credit Card or Paypal on the Sponsorship/Donors page. We encourage you to support the Event! Any excess over costs will be donated to the REALTORS Care Foundation of Ontario.
The Great Thing About REBarCamp!

FACE TO FACE
As a fairly frequent REBarCamper…the best thing for me is putting a face to the handles that you see online. The best Social Media is still the old Face-to-Face!
Topics will be discussed, ideas will be shared but being able to look at each other, laugh and share successes and failures is the real treat.
Come with an open mind, be ready learn and to get excited by new ideas all over again. Get ready to push the envelope…no excuses just lots of stimulating ideas.
The day will include a number of 45 minute sessions. Any thoughts on what you would like to share and learn can be added as comments below. We look forward to hearing from you. Don’t be shy because there are no right or wrong…just topics to be discussed!
REBarCampTO: Liberty Village Rocks!!!

We had a great lunch at the Academy of Spherical Arts the other day and spent some time wandering around and checking out all the sites of Liberty Village in Downtown Toronto. You can get lots of information at the Liberty Village BIA site. There is parking galore and the area is easily accessed at King and Dufferin by using the Lake Shore Blvd or the Q.E.W. . The TTC stops about one block away.
There is no reason now not to R.S.V.P. and join us on May 7th, 2010 and share lots of information about Social Media in an amazing location with a real taste of Toronto History. Read more

This past week (January 12th, 2010), three of the organizers or ReBarCampTO went to the REBarCampNYC. We wanted to check out the program, and learn as much as we could about hosting an REBarCamp. We came with 300 Pucks (foam stress pucks) that had the logo, location and date. The pucks were a big hit!
There are a few left over so…let us know, if you would like one. Jugglers welcome!
Dustin Luther of 4Realz.net and Wendy Forsythe of BHGRE.com do their Circque de Soleil rehearsal!

A BRIEF HISTORY of the Academy of Spherical Arts and the building that houses it reads like an outline for a short story.
In 1890 the 38 Hanna Avenue (now #1 Snooker Street) address was assigned to the original four-story building. Over the years, space was added and in 1905 the Brunswick Balke Collender Company bought the building and began manufacturing billiard tables, cues, balls and all manner of accessories (can you see it coming?). To understand what REBarCamp is, let me tell you what it is NOT. REBarCamp is not a convention or seminar designed to make money. It is Free. Not mostly free, not almost Free. Free. REBarCamp is NOT a smoothly disguised “seminar” to sell you something. There is NO SELLING at REBarCamp. So that is what REBarCamp is not… What is it? Read more
