Mid-March Update

With just under two months to go we are starting to see Real Estate Bar Camp Toronto take form.

We have had several meetings at the venue now and we are very happy with the Academy of Spherical Arts space and our vision for how the day will operate. We will be crossing our fingers for good weather, but not so good that you won’t want to be inside facilitating and participating in sessions.

Thanks again to Toronto Real Estate Board and TREB Commercial Division as well as to Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic for stepping up to our Platinum sponsorship levels. They have secured the existence of the event and ensured all our bellies will be sufficiently fed for the great learning and sharing that will be going on. We will not only be able to provide a continental breakfast, but we can now definitely say that lunch will be provided for all of our attendees as well. Read more

The Great Thing About REBarCamp!

FACE TO FACE

As a fairly frequent REBarCamper…the best thing for me is putting a face to the handles that you see online.  The best Social Media is still the old Face-to-Face!

Topics will be discussed, ideas will be shared but being able to look at each other, laugh and share successes and failures is the real treat.

Come with an open mind, be ready learn and to get excited by new ideas all over again. Get ready to push the envelope…no excuses just lots of stimulating ideas.

The day will include a number of 45 minute sessions. Any thoughts on what you would like to share and learn can be added as comments below. We look forward to hearing from you. Don’t be shy because there are no right or wrong…just topics to be discussed!

This past week (January 12th, 2010), three of the organizers or ReBarCampTO went to the REBarCampNYC. We wanted to check out the program, and learn as much as we could about hosting an REBarCamp. We came with 300 Pucks (foam stress pucks) that had the logo, location and date. The pucks were a big hit!

There are a few left over so…let us know, if you would like one. Jugglers welcome!

A BRIEF HISTORY of the Academy of Spherical Arts and the building that houses it reads like an outline for a short story.

In 1890 the 38 Hanna Avenue (now #1 Snooker Street) address was assigned to the original four-story building. Over the years, space was added and in 1905 the Brunswick Balke Collender Company bought the building and began manufacturing billiard tables, cues, balls and all manner of accessories (can you see it coming?).  Read more

To understand what REBarCamp is, let me tell you what it is NOT.  REBarCamp is not a convention or seminar designed to make money.  It is Free.  Not mostly free, not almost Free.  Free.  REBarCamp is NOT a smoothly disguised “seminar” to sell you something.  There is NO SELLING at REBarCamp.   So that is what REBarCamp is not…  What is it?
